Thousands enjoyed a Lantern night in Chinatown

From the bottom of our hearts at the Chinatown BIA, thank you so much to everyone who turned up on Sept 10, 2022 night! This was our first ever evening event and we were blown away by everyone's support!

To all vendors, food trucks, buskers and volunteers, we could not have done this without you. We are so grateful for the community and look forward to seeing you again at the next event!

Excerpt from LiveWire Calgary: Thousands gathered to bask in the warm glow of handpainted lanterns on Friday evening, marking a successful start to the inaugural Chinatown BIA Lantern Festival.

The festival was held on September 9, as a celebration of the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival.

“It is time that we can actually admire the moon, the lights, and we celebrate with mooncake, tea, and family getting together,” said Grace Su, Chairperson for the Chinatown BIA.

She said that the BIA held the festival this year, after a delay caused by pandemic related issues in 2021.
